Troop 10 hosted the Cub Scouts from Pack 38 on Monday, June 28 at our Harris Lake facility for a little fishing action.
A good time was had by all and every Scout caught at least one fish. The Boy Scouts of Troop 10 were able to utilize their EDGE technique training to assist the younger Cubs with various skills used in fishing including how to bait a hook, how to cast a line, how to set a hook and reel 'em in and how to get the fish off the hook and properly release the fish back into the lake.
We also had the initial launch of our own Troop boat that was donated by a genrous Scouting supporter and the Troop 10 Scouts were able to test out our new PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices) and the new paddles. Good news is that the boat made two trips around the lake and did not sink - so that's a plus!
We are gearing up for our first Boy Scout summer camp in July and all the boys have selected their merit badges to cover. Not sure what the leaders will be doing that week, but I am guessing it won't be laying around in a hammock listening to the Braves games.
